Meladerm Cream in Depth

Most people in their life-time will experience some form of hyperpigmentation. Hyperpigmentation, in general, is some kind of discoloration of the skin, this may include freckles, scar tissue, sun damage, liver spots, etc. These conditions are usually harmless but they can become annoying or even out right embarrassing to some.

Melanin is the main pigment produced in the lower layers of your skin. It is responsible for your overall skin color and is our main culprit when it comes to hyperpigmentation. Whether due to some kind of damage, age, or even gene selection melanin production can over produce, if you will, on the different areas of your body.  Below is a short video that explains very clearly what processes are involved and what are some of the treatments.

Miracle Cream or Just a Coverup?

Meladerm is a skin lightening cream created by a company called Civant. This is one of the most popular products on the market for the treatment of hyperpigmentation.

The company’s claim to fame is their use of “natural” products containing no harmful substances within their products. Now the term “natural” is sort of a catch-all phrase that people need to be very careful when they see extensive use of it within any company’s literature. Just because something is “natural” doesn’t mean that it can’t harm you. Too much of anything is never a good thing.

For example, let’s look at one of the key ingredients in Meladerm called Arbutin. According to dermatologist Arnold Oppeneim, MD arbutin is just “a swarmy, sweet first cousin of hydroquinone. This is my way of saying that Arbutin is glycosylated hydroquinone….hydroquinone with a glucose (sugar) molecule attached. It in fact turns into hydroquinonie as it is broken down. Like hydroquinone it supresses pigment prodcution by inhibiting the tyrosinase enzyme.”

Although Civant generally agrees with Dr. Oppeneim regarding Arbutin, they counter with “it refers to the normal form of Arbutin, otherwise known as Beta-Arbutin (hydroquinone-beta-D- glucopyranoside). Our product, Meladerm does not use this ingredient. Alternatively, we use a completely different form of Arbutin known as Alpha-Arbutin (4-Hydroxyphenyl-alpha-D-glucopyranoside). This form of Arbutin does not break down to hydroquinone and consequently does not pose the same side effects.”

Either way this is a product that has some very potent effects on the skin and needs to be used responsibly. In fact, Civant’s own website states plainly that they don’t recommend this product for extended use.

A Safe and Effective Skin Treament

Civant spent over 4 years of R&D development in order to introduce this product to market. One of the things they are most proud of is their ability to utilize primarily pure and natural ingredients as their active agents. This is in contrast to others who use some of the more typical and potentially harmful ingredients like steroids, mercury, or hydroquinone.

Now you have to keep in mind that every person’s skin is different. And not all hyperpigmentation problems can be helped by a topical creams that you put on your skin. Some forms of the problem occur in the lower layers of the skin where no topical cream could reach. But with that said, Meladerm can be very effective for reducing problem areas on your skin.

Here is just one of the thousands of reviews that you can find on Meladerm and it seems to be a typical response:

“I have had lasers done to my face, had used expensive creams to remove the hyperpigmentation on my face, but none of them seem to work. But after using Meladerm Cream (together with the exfoliating serum) for just 3 weeks, my skin tone gets lighter, and the pigmentation on my face is almost gone!! I am now ordering my second set of meladerm cream and exfoliating serum.” - Ida

Where can I get Meladerm?

Meladerm can only be purchased through their website. There are no retail stores you can go to purchase or try out the product. Also, because of the popularity of the product there are many fake sites claiming to have this cream in stock. Avoid those at all cost.

So, if you have problem areas on your skin that you need to take care of, Meladerm might just be the right product for you. It is proved to be safe and effective for most people and is a great value. One bottle will give you 7 weeks worth of treatments. Also, if for some reason it is not working for you, there is a 30 day money back guarantee. Who could ask for more?
